The Netherlands is small, so the sea is never far away. However, places in Amsterdam to enjoy good fish are scarce. Very scarce. Therefore I’m delighted to have found The Seafood Ba
r at the Van Baerlestraat in Amsterdam, where I took my father for his 70th birthday for a splendid lunch.
When we arrived at the Seafood Bar around 15 people were waiting to be seated by one of the young but friendly waiters. Luckily I had reserved a table for three.
We chose de Zeeuwse Oesters, squid a la planche and a seafood platter for one person. The seafood platter is very richly filled, so our three tummies were absolutely satisfied. As we decided fish must swim, we ordered a perfectly pairing Sancerre, which was absolutely value for money.
